Review: This is a film I couldn't watch...not because I'm a dog! I couldn't watch because I'm too young! Even in dog years, these rated R movies are above by age restriction. I will defer to my parents to share their thoughts while I go chew on my bone!

Review: Hurting. Chaos. Wandering. Rawness. These are just a few of the words I think of to describe this film. Side note: Hannah and I struggled as to whether or not to even review it because it illustrates some of the deepest hurting imaginable in the human experience. Of course, Brendan Fraser is amazing and will move you (did someone say Oscar?!). If you’re hurting or you’ve conquered a terrible pain, watch this film! I think you’ll either relate to the characters or you’ll be reminded by them what you once overcame. If I’m right, then either (or both!) your relatability or your reminder will be time well spent. For me, I was reminded of deep hurt that I’ve overcome in my life and it helped me see clearer my own triumphs as a victor in this life!

Review: Wow. Unapologetically honest. I really struggled with the idea of trying to review this film. It’s raw and ugly and not everyone’s cup of tea. But the fact remains that hurting people hurt people, and we also see hurting people hurt themselves. The Whale does a deep dive on what true hurt and brokenness looks like when it isn’t addressed. This movie is a reminder that everyone is going through something and life isn’t always butterflies and rainbows. Brendan Fraser, "whale" done sir.
