"I love you too"

     As many of you know, I have been nocturnal (a.k.a. working 3rd shift) for over 2 years now.  Depending on your background & experience, you may have even heard this shift time called "graveyard" or "overnight."  I like to refer to it as the "I love you too" shift.  

     Each morning I come home & it's time for Hannah to wake up.  More often than not this means my head hits the pillow right as she is starting her roll out of bed.  A common exchange in that brief moment as I lie down is that I say to her, "I love you too."  Since we've been married, I always hear back a simple & sweet, "I love you sweet man."  
     What I realized only recently is that Hannah has never once questioned why I say "I love you too" even though it will be the first time she hears me say it for the day.  It's almost like a normal principle of daily operation for us as a couple.  Don't get me wrong as we are very deliberate in appreciating one another & ensuring each of us knows the value we place on our daily choices & commitments to us as a unit.  We have simply stepped into a lifestyle together where love is an absolute certainty here at home.  
     As we close out each of my days & start each of hers with a simple "I love you too," the certainty & truth of our bond reminds us that together we move & together we enjoy life.  This is such a simple reminder that transcends circumstances, seasons, time & place.
