Walking in Faithfulness

What does it mean to walk in faithfulness?

It means not freaking out, or trying to take control because you think your way is better. It means practicing patience. It means being humble and steadfast with Christ. It means honoring God regardless of how hard or long you feel your situation may be.

On January 13, 2019 Chandler was baptized!!!
We can all hoop and holler, cry tears of joy, and praise the Lord. It’s absolutely worthy of all of those things. For me though it meant so much more.

When we first met it was definitely my way or the highway when it came to Chandler’s faith. I would tell him what I believed hoping he would say the same thing back.  Instead I would get bombarded with questions that would make me retaliate with, “You just should believe!” or “This is what faith looks like!” Obviously that didn’t get me very far. Once I realized I had to lay myself down before the Lord and submit Chandler's heart to Him, I gained a newfound peace. I began to see that for the most part I was really freaking out over nothing. Chandler had made huge strides in his relationship with the Lord. Not only that, but the man he was becoming was someone completely different than I had met just a few months prior. I just couldn’t see it because I was too focused on what I thought the end game should be....What I think never gets me very far, very peacefully.
For the better part of the last two years I have committed myself and all of my worry and overthinking to God. I would constantly speak God's truth over Chandler. I would give him the opportunity to lead us by making myself back down over the role I felt more qualified for.  These are my verbal reminders & discovery questions...

You are the head of our house.
Will you pray for me?

What do you think I should do in this situation?

What I learned in trusting God was Chandler has been called qualified. He has been called to lead our family. He has been called to the head of our house. Walking in faith meant even when I might know more scripture or I might have heard a bible story didn’t mean I got to define his faith. I learned what it means to be humble and submissive. I watched Chandler step into what Christ has called him to.
When Chandler told me he wanted to get baptized my heart gleaned with joy. This is what walking by faith looks like I thought. Lord I trusted you with what I couldn’t carry. I trusted you to carry my family where you were calling us to. I trusted your timing even when I thought things were moving too slow. Chandler got baptized!!! I reveled in the Joy of God's promise. When we walk by faith and not by sight, when we trust what doesn’t make sense, when we let go of our own time frames we let God do what he says and promises He will.

Hannah, this is such an encouraging message and one my heart for sure needed to read. I loved you sharing how you took a step back from leading where you felt "more qualified", as I have really struggled with that in my faith walk and Ragan's from an experience level. Thank you for the reminder to allow God to do the work in our husbands and to encourage that growth and relationship rather than try to control it. all my love!
