Planning an international vacation can be overwhelming, especially if one of your goals is to avoid tourist traps and truly immerse yourself like a local. We hope this guide for our Ireland Itinerary is a breath of fresh air that washes away the worries and fear of planning your next favorite vacation.
Travel tip – We booked all of our lodging through Airbnb which we highly recommend for European vacations. We were able to meet so many locals and get a more authentic experience by staying in these types of accommodations. Castles (yes I said CASTLES!) are always fun, but country houses and boutique hotels are full of charm as well... especially when they have breakfast included!

Planning a trip can be overwhelming and stressful, or it can be fun and exciting. It’s all up to you! I have had my fair share of being overwhelmed and anxious trying to plan a night out, let alone trying to plan a vacation. Trial and error, and lots of grace though have saved me and given me the tools I need to make planning fun.
First off we all know it is so much easier to plan for yourself, the minute you add in a spouse, friends, kids, or family all the extra layers can be suffocating. What does so and so want to do, will they have fun, will they feel seen and heard, will this cause an argument, and the list of fears goes on and on. I’m here to tell you to take a breath, sit back down, and know that you can do this successfully where everyone has a great time. It's no secret...we love traveling to Las Vegas every year. With that, our friends often ask us for recommendations. Without further ado, below you will find our 2022 Las Vegas itinerary (Note: we did not book any shows this year but are happy to recommend based on past trips!). Please feel encouraged to ask any questions you may have in the comments below and we will be happy to share additional details to make your trip AMAZING! Just remember: what happens in Vegas ONLY happens in Vegas (yeah, that's the new tag line...no more what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!) In today’s increasingly virtual workspace, people can still be counted on to behave as people. Even though the way we collaborate at work may be more different than ever, there are still age old fears impacting how we, as a people, communicate and make decisions collaboratively! Two particular fears are prominent: the fear of disappointment and the fear of commitment. Addressing the latter, this is not the fear you might recall when asking your young love out on a first date or even the fear that may be felt when considering a well-planned proposal to a future spouse…but I digress. Let’s leave that topic to another blog post! This fear of commitment is a deep-rooted emotion that causes us to grapple with Murphy’s Law as it relates to setting and meeting our own deadlines, mutual agreement of terms in team settings, and extending offers (recruiter friends, pay close attention!)
During my time training for work-life in government contracting, one of my online training modules was simply titled The Golden Rule….I was intrigued! As I sat in my small cubicle downtown Atlanta and pre-COVID-19, I kicked back at my desk with my headphones on, laptop in front of me, and dug in to this learning module hoping to learn all I could. After all, contracting was a new world for me having recently moved from Orlando, FL and serving as a hospitality professional! I needed to learn quickly!
During my childhood, fear was all around me! One of my earliest fears that I can recollect was waking up from afternoon naps in kindergarten. Lying on my Power Rangers roll out nap pad was paradise! With one hour set aside every day to enjoy this time of rest, I found fear leaving me even if just for a moment. Too soon the lights would come on in the classroom and our teacher asked that everyone wake up and prepare for the afternoon’s lessons.
This is a principle I had probably heard a thousand times but it never stuck with me until I finally chose to listen and think deeper about it during a course I took in college. Back then, it was a marketing research principle taught at the University of Northern Iowa that emphasized keeping the focus on the need(s) of your client throughout your data collection...but enough about that! My point here is that this principle came up again very recently during a walk talk with my wife.
Please enjoy our brief look back at 2 years (2019-2021) living in the great city of Atlanta, GA!
To us, moving to Nashville means…
In the summer of 2011, I traveled to China where I lived for one month in the cities of Beijing and Dalian. Forces like ethnocentrism, curiosity, and culture shock played a big part in my perspective. I want to share these firsthand experiences with you in three brief parts: Developing Country Means NOT YET Developed Country, Fog or Smog?, and Culture Impacts Business. I hope you find these accounts eye opening & perhaps even helpful if the day comes that you visit this ever-changing country for yourself.
I began my life in Orlando in 2011 as an interning merchandise host in theme parks, & here we are 8 years later. Time has flown by & in the words of one of my wife’s favorite characters, “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun.” This was certainly true everywhere I went for work. From my college internship, I moved on to a management internship for retail. My Temporary Assignment (TA) experience that followed was vast, taking me on a journey through several theme parks, resorts, & even airport operations (very briefly!). It was in 2015 that two wonderful experiences befell me… In 2015, I met my future wife, Hannah Koehler, while making magic in theme park merchandise operations AND, in a sense, I returned home to the first park I ever worked at in 2011 as a statused leader. What a wonderful year it was! I joined a flagship hotel for a promotional opportunity in early 2017 & married Hannah later that same year. She moved from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to the magical world that is Orlando to help support my dream of living out a career filled with fantasy. As I now round out my 8 year tenure with this company, I am proud to say I’ve worked in 3 theme parks, 3 deluxe resorts, & the Orlando International Airport alongside several well-respected airlines & industry competitors. I recognize now a need to reflect & give thanks. |
